While the game obviously took some inspiration from AM2's Virtua Cop games, there were some differences. Anyway, the original House of the Dead was a relatively simple light-gun shooter for its time, constantly moving you from one area to another, shooting any & all monsters in your way, while also often reloading your gun by shooting away from the screen.
